feelings ≠ facts : a universal truth

feelings ≠ facts : a universal truth

oxytocin, dopamine, adrenaline - for the unfamiliar these may sound like an addict’s wish list. powerful drugs that can be extremely dangerous to those who use them and anyone within the blast radius

they would be right

and wrong

they are just three of over a dozen hormones and neurotransmitters involved in the complex system that most people refer to as “feelings”

it is believed that the original purpose of feelings was as a survival mechanism. our body’s way of altering us to danger. biological self preservation against a world that at one time was trying to kill us every day and night. and while we are no longer chased by dinosaurs or being hunted by invading hordes, that hardwired system remains

emotional feelings - the energy behind them - can be incredibly powerful. they can silently inspire one person to overcome the impossible, and spread like a virus, leading a mob of many against one. with both positive and negative outcomes possible, feelings themselves are not the problem

the word in and of itself is part of the confusion. someone can say that they are “feeling cold” however without context, are they referring to temperature or temperament? one is a measurable, tangible, quantifiable. the other completely a matter of perspective. this variability becomes problematic when no one stops to question the difference and blindly begins to treat them as equal

and once feelings are elevated to currency, that they are all worthy, alignment becomes impossible

that is when people become hopelessly addicted to the construct they have built around their own emotions. nothing else matters. they focus on ‘their truth,’ giving themselves a shot of false agency while ignoring facts. and in many cases they believe that the more feelings they express, the greater the depth and volume performed, the more they matter - coupled with an expectation that their feelings must be accepted, supported, and validated by the rest of the world

this is a delusion

tyler durden said it best, “you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. you are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else”

the universe does not value emotions. mother nature does not care about feelings nor consult your ‘your truth’ before sending the next storm or the sickness. death comes whether you like it or not

feelings are a powerful force of nature - they are energy - but they are flexible and they can be fleeting. facts are immutable. they are the ground you stand on. the air you breath. choosing to live with feelings overshadowing facts is fighting against the universe, and losing sight of the north star

the codex doesn’t chase feelings

it keeps you focused on facts while highlighting how feelings can affect your alignment
